SHIT A BISCUIT

Holy crap, there's some amazing stuff up here. I'm torn between throwing down my pencil in embarrasment & throwing in my job to draw cool shit fulltime.

Stompbox, may have shown me this a while ago, I can't remember but even if he did, he's still going to need a nappy when he goes there again.

Doom 3 modding tutorial videos

3DBUZZ is now doing Doom3 vids (level design etc), downloadable from the front page, xvid codec.

also UT stuff. 3dbuzz was slow for a while, but the team is back and they are now releasing one lesson at a time, instead of saving them up and releasing packs of 7 or 8. So you don't have to wait ages. Game nerds who want to mod, I strongly advise you to download every game modding video tute this dude puts out. I have a lot he did for various apps, the Motionbuilder ones particularly I learnt a fucking heap from. Reading is one thing, these are like sitting down with a full blown dork who shows you how to do it all. In the early days they were trying to be funny etc which was excruciating, but they're much more professional now.

Gastric Holiday

So far on our holiday the kids have had severe colds and I copped a dose of gastro which was like eating magic mushrooms and hopping on a dangerously high G rollercoaster ride. The porcelain has fingermarks from where I was struggling to hold on to the seat so I wasn't thrown into the air. I think the experience has made me a world class rodeo rider.

The 3 year old walked out of Garfield 5 mins in saying it was shit, and they came to join me and the 10 year old in Thunderbirds, which was cool.

ADELAIDE

We stopped there for most of a day. It's like a really bogan version of Sydney, stinking of farts and cigarettes. Everyone over 3 months old smokes like a motherfucker, and looks pissed off that they live in Adelaide. And I do not blame them.

RIFFZILLA BITCHES

If I was to form a band today, it would be called RIFFZILLA we'd play slow downtuned riffs with stupid growling vocals in japanese or something. Onstage each member would wear a godzilla suit & the stage would be littered with balsa wood skyscrapers that would be systematically crushed by the bandmembers. The audience would recieve one of those slot together balsa wood glider planes that they would be expected to throw at the band so they could be batted out of the air & (of course) crushed.

Who said the music business is tough.

(TML seems to be going through spring break)

Single player demo available. I heard about it from a dude on a 3d nerd email list, who worked on the explosions in the cinematic intro.

1st freelance 3D gig

Am I excited? I'm typing this out using my engorged cock to hit the keys! Reading this has probably impregnanted your eyeballs, take a morning after pill soon or in 9 months little eyelets will open up all over your head and you'll be walking in to work looking like a potatoe which has been left in the cupboard too long.

On the subject of potatoes, I have posted here today as well as 3dpotatoe, so enough holding of ballsack and whining. I will always have inane bullshit to post here... Let the bullshit flow!

Suggestions

I like how the banner links to a bigger, because I love the pic and a bigger version is rad. But it's hard when you go to post a comment, to get back out to the main page. Well not HARD, you can edit the URL and hit return, but how about a "HOME" link above the chat link?

Also, I keep thinking the gothic type on the logo has got to go. It would look so much radder without it. The two styles clash. Lose the gothic, and then it looks like a piece of graf art.

is there anything BT can't do???

I'm a nerd

you're a nerd

we're all nerds,

so you will understand what I mean when I say VERSION 1 AD&D GUIDEBOOKS UP ON SUPRNOVA, GET EM WHILE THEY'RE HOT.

of course I alreaday have then so those of you within wireless leeching distance need not bother with downloading them.

But I ask you is it coincidence that these showed up the same day as 3 Bolt Thrower albums? Or is it possible Gary Gygax has finally got broadband.

I haven't actually had a chance to open these yet, but hopefully they have the original artwork scanned in, as thats the only reason I actually want them, the artwork in the current ones is shithouse (cause I downloaded them 6 months ago not realising this shit had been updated in the last 15 years) but the original 1 colour illustrations in the original books still stand up as some of the most influential art on my drawing style to date.

The turd-bot arises

Back to important stuff like robots:

The Age's odd spot:

"Thursday September 9, 2004

As part of a broader project, British scientists are developing a robot that will generate its own power by eating flies. But it will have to use sewage or excrement to attract the flies. "

Odd Spot link to article that won't be top of the list tomorrow, and the Age online sucks much arse because you now have to register. But - again - use Firefox because it is good and get this extension.

It is on Slashdot today as well.

What the FUCK is this shit?

BlogShares seems to think we're an up-and-coming potential goldmine for some weirdo stockmarket that's trading the value of blogs on the internet.

I have no idea what the fuck all this is, but if someone's making money off our crap, they should probably be put to the torch, doused, and then burnt again.

Army of Darkness Dark Horse Comic (bittorrent)

I haven't seen it, but I think the artist is John Bolan or some shit, an awesome artist. No this is not the "Ashes to Ashes" I was talking about, this is the comic adaptation of the 3rd Evil Dead film.

I love Battle Chasers, got thru 9 issues and then realised that's all I have, DOH!! Can't see more on Suprnova, if you spot more, I NEED THEM !!!

Visiting Uncle Eightball - a review

No one is posting so here I am doing my bit for TML with a review of Uncle Eightball's hospitality...

Tea - Earl Grey, very nice actually, 8/10, but the kettle is hard to drive.
Wireless - very good and I was pleased with the selection of comics available.
Sporting facilities - great. Sloped yard with furniture makes for an excellent playing surface. I would have liked to have been able to lock one or more children in the cathouse, but still all told very good.

Overall we were very satisfied with the friendly atmosphere and stylish pyjamas.

Another one for Stomp

and everyone else.
Acts of Gord Funny shit from a dude that worked in a computer/console games store.
It has a comic attached as well.

Re: New Logo Pic

SHIRTS!!!!

Cooling for the terminally insane. (i.e. Me)

I WILL be buying one of these, one day. Some quotes from the manual:

"To prevent galvanic corrosion, special coolants such as antifreeze are sometimes used. (Zalman's ZM-WB2 Gold is gold-plated, so galvanic corrosion does not occur.)"

What weird shit have you read recently?

I just ordered in, bought and began reading "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time." I don't remember where I first heard about it. If you can't be bothered checking the links: it's a book written from the perspective of a kid with Asperger's syndrome, which is a form of autism that seems to focus on the fact that the individual doesn't have the ability to interpret the meaning of facial expressions among other things we take for granted. (This is not an accurate, medically sound description, just what I gathered that got me interested enough to read it.)

What have you lot have been reading recently that you normally wouldn't? Every once in a while I seem to randomly pick something up that isn't sci-fi and get a real kick out of it. For example Stompy put me on to Chuck Palahniuk, who wrote Fight Club, and I have subsequently worked my way through everything he's published. But I don't think I would have ever read him otherwise, so I'm farming your collective nerdbrains for more feed for mine.

Nerdy word psychology stuff ripped off Slashdot

I find this stuff fascinating, probably because I read more in six months than most peoples immediate families will in their entire lifetime. But anyway, this article is pretty interesting, at least it is if you're single, hate your job, and live in a city that best known for it's public arse-pumpings and one fuck-off big bridge.

The Science of Word Recognition.

It's written by Kevin Larson who works in the Microsoft Typography Department which seems to have a psychology department attached.

and this one is so we are in front

Suck on that.

Check this out - we now show up in google:

Googling for "robotuprising"

We should be at the top of the results. Everyone link to robotuprising any time you post anywhere else. If you want to know about shit you should go to robotuprising.

Searching google for "Tentacle monster lair" (with the quotes) brings up eightball on yayhooray talking about TML. It needs more mentions. People need to know more about tentacle monsters and this is the place to find out.

3D potatoe posting level

This post is just so we have the same number as 3DP.
There you go.

FUUUUUUUCK !!!!!!!!!

More shit that makes me laugh sometimes

Hopefully Stomp hasn't seen these - so he will waste even more time reading them. Mostly flash animations, but other shit too:

B3TA

Weebl and Bob

Weebls Stuff

This one gave me a laugh a couple of days ago. A dude setup a PC to answer his phone when a telemarketer calls. The cunts don't even realise they are talking to a computer.
Telecrapper 2000
Watch out if you are using shIEt - the fuckers site uses popups and tries to change your home page. Again - not a problem if you are using a decent broweser, like Firefox.

Lets all make sure Box never gets any more work done

EVER....

online comics from the past
http://sinfest.net
kinda cutesy, but actually pretty funny, I've been dropping in here for about 4 years, I think this guy is printed these days

www.mnftiu.cc/mnftiu.cc/war.html
get your war on, most people have seen this now, Kim Jong Il why you so crazy?

http://redmeat.com
weird, disturbing at times, possibly the first 'cut & paste' computer comic where the artwork was repeated adnauseum so all that really mattered is the words etc.. has it's moments

Hopelessly addicted to online comics

Here's another two. Ornery Boy and Evil SPace Robot

Got the links from a guest spot on diesel cuties. Posting this before I've even read the first strip - it's awesome. Looks like HATE, and if you know Eightball, he has HATE galore.

I'm reading these things non-stop when taking a "break" from 3D modeling, I don't have rendering as an excuse yet. Most people take a break with a change of posture. My spine is fucking killing me. I'm not joking, nor smiling. Duh, I just had a great idea, I'll take a break by playing Warcraft III instead. Hmm, different pastime, same backpain, exact. same. posture. I think there's a pattern developing here, but I'm too sleep deprived to see it.

Hot Cartoon Chicks

My ranting in a comment to this post [ when I should be going home to my family ] reminded me of a discussion I once had with Skaffen - who our favourite cartoon chicks were. I think Retro Crush was either part of the discussion or prompted it. My favourite, at least from the Retro Crush list, is Red Sonja
My favourite cartoon chicks are changing as I read more web comics. There are some pretty sexy mysterious ninja chicks in No Need for Bushido - but then that's probably the main reason Skaffen reads it.

SPLATTERHOUSE

Pinnacle of arcade game culture. The bees fucking knees.

Apparently there was a SPLATTERHOUSE and SH2 on PS2, don't know anything about it but I think it would probably rule.
