Stompy just put me on to this about two hours ago. I've found the Japanese Trailer at apple, as well as some pretty fucking handy movie trailer sites:

Movie-Page.com

JoBlo's Movie Trailers

Everywhere I read about Casshern people were talking about Immortel too.

Maybe it's time to order in some dvd's.

Cinifex sent me an email just now -

Casshern: The Hollywood Reporter states DreamWorks Pictures has acquired U.S. distribution rights for this spectacular-looking Japanese science fiction drama. The live-action film, directed by Kazuaki Kiriya and based on a 1973 Japanese animated series about a superhuman freedom fighter who ends a 50-year-long conflict between humans and machines, was reportedly made on a shoestring budget of $6 million. Asian film distributor Shochiku released the film in Japan in April. No word yet exactly when it will appear in the U.S., but JoBlo.com indicates DreamWorks' distribution deal may include an option to remake the film.

I never saw Storm Riders. I remember seeing the trailer for that at Lord St with Skaff ( I think it was Skaff maybe Stomp, remember you guys are interchangable as housemates). But that looked great in the live action Manga format. 2o meter long swords & the like.

Did anyone ever see it?

Oh yeah I will download Casshern sooner than later, along with House of 1000 daggers (kung fu) & Haut Tension (Ultra violent German slasher movie) so we can have some over the top movie night

I think the scheduling of a weekend of kung-fu supernatural movie fun is definately in order. I've lent the Stompster several DVD's and have a few more coming my way. Combined with a multitude of naughty internet downloads we could certainly rot our minds for a couple of days.

I will be in Melb for the Christmas - New Years period, maybe we can book at least a night in then? Who's got the sickest system, mate?

I have "Close Encounters of the Spooky Kind" which is a lot of fun. Martial arts hilarity.
Definately up for a video night soon.

I think I watched Storm Riders on night shift once, if I remember it was one of those slow at the start but your investment is paid off in the climax hong kong action films. I fucking love asian action films. Each scene has 50 extras, the fights are so rad. You never know what they'll do. It's like Tom and Jerry cartoon for adults. If only the scripts ruled...

I have to see Om Bak (spelling?) properly, I fell asleep last time. No fucking time for videos at the moment, flat out on the 3D kid. Slowly but surely he's getting there, come a long way...

Like alot of Asian action the trailer for Ong Bak is probably radder thant the actual movie because it's nothing but action. The movie is good but like all Asian action it suffers from not being a 90 minute fight scene (which lets face it, is what we all want).

That said I sat down & watched it fully & enjoyed it.

I also just got given a copy of Ghost in the Shell : Innocence.

I think I just heard Skaffens pants explode.......

My system at home has the PC going through my big speakers & video to the TV so it's pretty cool to watch shit on that. (although the machine chugs a bit on higher quality video, but I can set the lappy up under 5 minutes.)
