For the child in all of us

I read a little as a kid but never really "got" it. It seemed a bit gay. I'd already read all the Enid Blyton Folk of the Faraway Tree books - now those puppies rocked. Riding a spiral slide down the inside of the tree into the ground where giant worms were attacking the roots and shit, climbing a ladder into the clouds and having all kinds of crazy shit-caked-on-acid adventures. Whoooo.

I took my oldest son to see Narnia at the theatre - a play with wicked sets and half the characters were huge puppet and shit. That was pretty cool. But I wouldn't have liked it as much if I wasn't there with one of my kids. It's too predictable and trite, especially the ending - SPOILER: the lion comes back to life and everyone gains 10,000 experience points, the end.

There's no real threat. That's what's missing. Someone do Transformers: Beast Wars On Ice and then I'll be impressed.
