Hey has anyone seen the Hitchhikers movie yet? I'm eager to see it cause I've always loved the books & Mos Def as Ford Prefect could be a stroke of absolute genius, or it could blow giant goats up the ass...

I am hanging to see it, I think the wife will come too. Maybe we could double date? The trailer looks cool.

Yes, it is good.

However DO NOT go and see it with someone who has not read the books or has a propensity for being a dickhead in cinemas. I actually stood up and told my mate to shut the fuck up, then hit him, this naturally affected my enjoyment of the film.

What worries me now is that there's talk of making more, if not all, of the following books. D.Adam's wrote the script and screenplay for this one, but won't be able to do so for any further productions. I have a scary premonition they'll end up butchering it like the Aliens series...

Well I went & saw it last night, I liked it although several things bugged me & surprisingly they weren't what I expected.

The ship Zaphod steals, The Golden Heart, or whatever it is, looks fucking great. one of the best designed ships I think I've ever seen. I loved the art nouveau porcelain pattern around the front of it...

*Caution potential spoilers ahead, but nothing major really*

I thought the guy playing Zaphod was great, I expected to hate him but thought he was brilliant if not a little annoying at times, but given the character thats pretty much the point.

Mos Def as Ford Prefect WAS a success even though his character really takes a backseat to most of the others.

The things that struck me as weird were the major addition of Vogon stuff that wasn't present in the books. it wasn't badly done. it's just not in the book. & the whole bit with John Malkovich's charactor which I vaguely remember being in the book briefly that was ramped right the fuck up in the movie. I wonder how much of this was gleaned from d-Adam's adaptive screenplay & how much was added later.

Overall a good movie that I enjoyed & would happily see again.
